One of the first things I would suggest doing is taking a ton of pictures. Even if you never thought of looking at a part, there can be that one moment when you ask yourself, "Does the washer go on first or the gasket?" or, "Does the red wire go to the blue or green connector?" Just go back to your picture folder.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
I went out in the garage tonight to assess where I was and I basically came to the conclusion, it was time to tear the bike apart. Here is the last picture of it as it was stock.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
I went out in the garage tonight to assess where I was and I basically came to the conclusion, it was time to tear the bike apart. Here is the last picture of it as it was stock.
From that point on, all hell broke loose. With my screwdriver, 10mm socket and 8mm wrench, I went to town. Below are all the pictures of the process.
First thing to do is pull the seat off. Two 10mm bolts under the seat, right behind the upper shock mounts. Then one 10mm bolt holds the back pilon (sp?) in place. On the left side, unscrew the top side cover and disconnect the battery. Some people have a 5mm allen on the battery. My battery is a tiny thing (more on that later) and had a Phillips screw on top.
On the right side of the bike, the side cover is held in place with 2 screws. Just in front of it is a place to put your key, this opens the area for your tool kit. Undo 3 more screws and you can access the battery. Disconnect it and take it out.
Now drain the gas tank. There are two 10mm bolts holding the tank on. Unscrew the speedo cable at the engine. DO NOT LOSE THAT WASHER! Lift the rear of the tank and pull it backwards, it should come right off. Disconnect the wiring at the connector and set the tank aside.
At this point I pulled the ugly, orange reflectors too. You can unscrew the rectifier and save the bolts. (10mm) On the front pulley guard, grab a 8mm wrench or socket and pull the 3 bolts out and remove the guard. Behind it are 2 screws holding on the lower belt guard. There is a 10mm bolt to the rear of it too right on the underside of the swingarm. Pop that piece off too. There is another bolt holding the upper belt guard but you can't remove it until you pull the lower left shock bolt.
Here is where I am at the end of the night......
